Dr. Michael Rollock is a licensed clinical psychologist, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Health Behavior, and Director of Behavioral Health Services at the Pain Management Clinic, Wellstar MCG Health at Augusta University. For more than two decades, he has pursued a single, profound question: How do people flourish while living with persistent suffering—whether physical, psychological, or systemic?
Dr. Rollock began his career at the founding edge of positive psychology, working full-time with Martin Seligman at the University of Pennsylvania (2001–2003) after earning his B.S. in Psychology, cum laude, from Drexel University. The experience and aftermath of 9/11 shaped a core conviction: if we know what helps people thrive and communities flourish, we must apply those insights where suffering is greatest.
He went on to earn his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston, whose program is explicitly grounded in a scientist–practitioner–activist model integrating research excellence with social justice advocacy—a foundation that continues to shape all his work. His dissertation demonstrated that resilience and well-being are not only individual but relational; enhanced in couples and families who work together for the benefit of others. After a doctoral internship at the Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology (Boston University School of Medicine) and a health-psychology postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia (2010–2012), Dr. Rollock and his family made Augusta their home.
As clinical faculty at MCG, he recognized a pattern across contexts: whether working with clinicians facing burnout as Well-being Officer, developing recovery-oriented programming as an attending psychologist at East Central Regional Hospital, or treating patients with chronic medical conditions, the presenting problem was often intensified when three factors remained unaddressed persistent stress, mental health stigma, and social disconnection.
His work challenges linear, “find-it-and-fix-it” models and advances an evidence-based alternative: helping people live with greater purpose, connection, and authentic joy in the face of life’s challenges, rather than treating pain of any kind as something merely to be erased or avoided.
Dr. Rollock has authored multiple peer-reviewed papers and presented widely on health psychology, clinician well-being, and positive psychology in medical contexts. A TEDx Augusta speaker on “Prescribing Purpose” and four-time recipient of MCG’s Exemplary Teaching Award, he is known for translating rigorous science into practical, culturally responsive strategies that clinicians, organizations, and communities can apply immediately.

Marcia masterfully implants valuable pearls of practical wisdom and nuggets of hope that will support individuals to realistically achieve their dreams while living a life of intended purpose.
Marcia, the therapist, frequently compares therapy to that of an onion. Most people naturally dislike cutting into onions because of the profound discomfort that it undoubtedly causes. Most often individuals will inadvertently overlook the sweetness found in the middle layers of an onion, eagerly waiting to be released through tears. She carefully designs treatment plans ostensibly based on the unique and specific needs of each client. All services are carefully woven to ensure a customized level of managed care because it is not likely that everyone will undergo the same life experiences. This is what Marcia calls the "Peculiar Place" and clients are drawn to this peculiar nature and finds solace and healing in her care.
Marcia, The Life Coach, is a natural athlete from the track field and leaving competitors behind, to volleyball courts, jumping high to achieve goals and basketball with a defensive stance that stops her enemies. She will coach you with the same veracity. She will challenge you, encourage you, and motivate you to be your absolute best.
